Member Of BARCS Volunteers, Fosters and Staff

As you probably know, I work for BARCS, the largest animal shelter in MD. Each year, we take in nearly 12,000 animals and do so on an unbelievably small budget. My job is to raise money to help care for these animals. My job is also to bug you for donations.

Donate for Russ - and for the thousands of other animals who come to BARCS each year in need of shelter and care. At about eight years old, Russ came in with a pretty terrible crop job on his ears, a nasty coat with a lot of missing hair and a whole bunch of fleas. I didn’t know much about him except that all of the volunteers went on and on about what a sweet dog he was. So one day pretty recently I grabbed him out of his kennel, put him in my car and took him home.

I’ve never tracked how many dogs we’ve fostered over the years, but I’m sure it’s well over 100. Russ is by far my favorite and quite easily one of the greatest dogs I’ve ever met. While I’ve never cried when a foster gets adopted, something tells me that won’t be the case when he goes off to his forever home. But, as hard as it will be, I will say goodbye to Russ, so that I can welcome the next dog in need.

There will be more Russ’ who need my help - and yours. Please consider making a donation!
